You’ve heard about the incredible benefits of fatty acids and how they can support healthy mood, heart function, cognition, bones, joints, skin, and more.

But… which fatty acids should you take?

Fish oil? Flaxseed oil? Evening primrose? Algae?

How are they different? Should you take them ALL?

No. Because there’s Ahiflower®.

Ahiflower® is derived from the seeds of Buglossoides arvensis, a herbaceous annual plant that grows throughout Europe and Asia.
Refined Buglossoides arvensis seed oil is an incredible oil that provides the healthy fatty acids of fish, flax, chia, hemp, evening primrose, and algal oil all in one.

And that’s not all.

Buglossoides arvensis seed oil is the highest plant source of omega 3.[1] And, unlike fish or algal oil, it provides a complete, perfectly balanced ratio of omega 3, 6, and 9.[2]

Here’s why Buglossoides arvensis seed oil – which makes up Ahiflower® – may be the most effective source of plant-based Omega fatty acids in the market today – and also the most sustainable.

But first – let’s explain why Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids are so important.

Who needs Omega 3 and Omega 6?

Whether you’re 18 or 81, male, female, active, inactive, eating a great diet or a not-so-great diet – you need a daily dose of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs).

Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are crucial to good health. They regulate the antioxidant signaling pathway, modulate inflammatory processes, assist lipid metabolism, and support the function of nearly every organ in the body, especially the heart and brain.[3]

To provide these benefits, Omega 3 and Omega 6 must be in a ratio of 1:1 – 4:1.
However, the ratio in most modern Western diets is about 15:1-16.7:1.[4]
Too little Omega-3 and too much Omega-6 has been linked to inflammatory processes that can ultimately lead to poor health, including a variety of chronic diseases.6

Where can we get Omega 3?

Omega 3 fatty acids are present in oily fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, mackerel) and seaweed, flaxseeds, and chia seeds. But unless you’re eating these foods regularly – or taking Omega 3 supplements – you may not be enough Omega 3.

Research shows that only 20% of Australians are currently getting their recommended daily intake of Omega-3 – which means around 80% of the population is missing out on the much-needed health benefits that these nutrients provide.[5]

Increasing levels of omega-3 via supplements can assist with healthy inflammation response and potentially reduce the risk of disease.6

The ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 in Buglossoides arvensis seed oil is an incredible 4:1. This is a perfect ratio to counterbalance the high omega 6 in our modern Western diets.

Why is refined Buglossoides arvensis seed oil called Ahiflower®?

The name Ahiflower is a reference to the Hawaiian word for tuna – ahi – which acknowledges the plant’s relationship to traditional omega-3 sources.

Why take Ahiflower?

Refined Buglossoides arvensis seed oil is the most biologically advanced, complete and balanced plant-based source of omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids. It’s grown entirely from non-GMO crops and has a clean, mild taste.

Until now, the only alternatives to fish oils for Omega-3s have been plant oils such as flaxseed, chia, and hempseed or algal sources.

But Ahiflower® has changed the game on plant-based Omegas. It’s a richer, more complete source of fatty acids than any other plant or seed oil.

It’s also sustainably and ethically produced, and has a clean, mild taste.

That’s only the beginning!

Benefits of refined Buglossoides arvensis seed oil

Refined Buglossoides arvensis seed oil provides all four of the most essential precursors to Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids: ALA, SDA, LA, and GLA. It has the highest available combination of ALA and SDA of any non-GMO commercially available plant.

  • The fatty acids in refined Buglossoides arvensis seed oil may support healthy function of the heart, brain, skin, immune system and cellular membrane function. These fatty acids are known to assist with production of important molecules involved in the inflammatory response.[1]
  • The longer-chain Omega 3 fatty acids in refined Buglossoides arvensis seed oil are more easily incorporated into cell membranes than fatty acids from flaxseed oil.[2]
  • Unlike other plant oils, refined Buglossoides arvensis oil is rich in stearidonic acid.[3] It provides up to 10x more SDA and twice as much Omega 3 as hemp seed oil!
  • Refined Buglossoides arvensis oil has been shown to convert up to 4x more effectively to EPA than flaxseed oil in human trials. EPA supports the healthy function of cell membranes and acts as an energy source. It also helps to maintain healthy cognitive and cardiovascular function.[4]
You would need to take four flaxseed oil softgels to get the amount of beneficial EPA that you would get from just one refined Buglossoides arvensis oil softgel.
  • Refined Buglossoides arvensis oil demonstrates ready conversion to DHA in the body, significantly more so than flaxseed oil, and about 90% as efficiently as a pure marine-based DHA source.[5] DHA may support healthy cognitive function as well as visual development and function.[6]
  • Refined Buglossoides arvensis oil provides levels of valuable Omega 6 Gamma linolenic acid (GLA) comparable to that of Evening Primrose Oil.2 GLA is an omega-6 fatty acid that acts as an antioxidant in the body, helping to reduce free radical damage to cells.[7] It also supports healthy skin.[8] Taking Omega-3s with GLA may assist with healthy inflammatory response.[9]

Ahiflower®: safe, sustainable, and superior

Ahiflower® is the ultimate alternative to other Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils. It’s a phenomenal upgrade in terms of its health-promoting properties, environmental implications, and taste.

Ahiflower® is grown exclusively in the UK using regenerative farming practices. The oil derived from the plants is a single, pure, non-GMO ingredient. All plants are fully traceable- from soil to oil.

The takeaway

Ahiflower® isn’t just a richer, more efficient source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 than other plant-based oils.

It’s also cleaner, greener, and more sustainable than almost every other Omega oil on the market.
